8.2.1 Mud performance testing. Due to the deep well, high temperature, and high pressure, drilling fluid requirements are strict for ultra deep well drilling. Especially in deep well sections, as the depth increases, the mud temperature and pressure gradually rise. Real time detection of drilling fluid performance under high temperature and high pressure conditions is particularly important. On site mud engineers will adjust and improve the drilling fluid in real time based on the detection results. Therefore, in addition to the routine testing required by API standards, it is necessary to add high-temperature testing items. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a mud laboratory on site and equip it with high-temperature and high-pressure testing instruments. High temperature drilling fluid testing instruments required: high-temperature roller furnace, high-temperature and high-pressure filtration instrument (dynamic and static), high-temperature rheometer, etc.
8.2.2 Drilling fluid mud monitoring system Drilling mud monitoring is the real-time monitoring, storage, and indirect calculation of mud performance parameters during the drilling process, and the use of these basic data to analyze mud performance in real time and guide drilling construction. After a long period of data accumulation, it can provide reference basis for drilling plan design and construction. During the drilling construction process, the drilling mud monitoring system can monitor, process, and dynamically display various performance parameters of the mud in real time, and establish mathematical models between various parameters in combination with othe

(1) The main parameters for on-site mud testing include viscosity, density, temperature, flow rate, and mud tank level of the drilling fluid.
(2) Composition of Drilling Mud Monitoring System The drilling mud monitoring system consists of on-site measuring instruments, communication lines, and computers, as shown in Figure 8.1. On site measuring instruments include electromagnetic flow meters, liquid level monitoring meters, mud density monitoring meters, and mud viscosity monitoring meters. The following mainly introduces the two main monitoring devices, electromagnetic flowmeter and density meter. Figure 8.1 Composition of drilling mud monitoring system: 1) Electromagnetic flowmeter. In order to measure the mud flow rate in the mud pipeline, an electromagnetic flow sensor is used to measure the flow rate. The measuring tube of the flowmeter is a non-magnetic alloy short tube lined with insulating material. Two electrodes are fixed on the measuring tube along the diameter direction, and the electrode heads are basically flush with the inner surface of the lining. When the rolling excitation coil is excited with bidirectional square waves, a working magnetic field will be generated in the direction perpendicular to the axis of the measuring tube. At this point, if a fluid with a certain conductivity flows through the measuring tube, it will cut the magnetic field lines and induce an electromotive force E. The electromotive force E is proportional to the product of the magnetic flux density B of the working magnetic field, the inner diameter d of the measuring tube, and the average flow velocity v, that is, E=kBdv (k is a proportionality constant). The electromotive force E (flow signa
